As the federal government shutdown continues, the federal funding for SNAP (foodstamps) is currently suspended for November, which means countless families, seniors, and children in our community may not receive their benefits, leaving them without the means to buy groceries. This comes right before the holiday season, which makes the need even more urgent. No family should have to wonder where their next meal will come from.

----If you or someone you know is impacted by this potential lapse in government food assistance, please SAVE this post and use the list below. Please also share to get the word out. We are compiling this list of local food banks and pantries so help is one click away when it's needed most.-----

---For those who are able to help this holiday season, please be aware that the demand on our local food banks and pantries is about to skyrocket. Families who rely on SNAP benefits (which are typically about $8 billion a month nationally) will be turning to our local charitable resources for survival.---

Here’s how you can make the biggest difference right now:

1. Donate Food: Non-perishable items are always welcome. Focus on shelf-stable, high-protein foods. 2. Donate Funds: Financial donations allow food banks to purchase exactly what they need, often at wholesale prices, stretching your dollar further. 3. Volunteer Your Time: Food banks need extra hands to sort. 4. Righteous Roots would greatly appreciate gift cards in small increments to HEB/Walmart for clients in need. 5. We would also love for you to sign up for our 2025 Righteous Roots Friendsgiving. I will include the sign up link for food donations. https://www.signupgenius.com/.../10C0544A5AE22A6FAC52...

Let's rally as a community and ensure that every one of our neighbors has food on the table, especially during the holidays. Please share this post so this vital information reaches every corner of our community.
